Foreword
Closing the gap between communities and green finance
Papua New Guinea holds the third-largest intact tropical rainforest tract on Earth, extraordinary marine biodiversity, and abundant hydro, solar, geothermal and biomass resources. At the same time, our people and landscapes are highly exposed to climate impacts — sea-level rise along our coasts, landslides and flooding in the Highlands, drought and frost, and coral bleaching on our reefs.
Over eighty percent of Papua New Guineans live in rural areas. Most land is customarily owned. That reality is both a profound asset and a governance challenge. International green and climate finance is increasingly available — yet communities, provinces, cooperatives and small enterprises often lack the technical preparation, safeguards and accounting capacity required to access it fairly.
GreenTech Foundation Pacific exists to close that gap. We are technical and community-facing. We are not a broker and not an extractor. We help landowners, provinces, cooperatives and SMEs prepare, finance, deliver and account for green projects — while keeping fair benefit at home in Papua New Guinea.
Our 2026–2030 prospectus sets out eight strategic pillars, a flagship programme portfolio of approximately USD 12.5 million, and a roadmap to build lasting national capability. We invite partners who share our commitment to landowner primacy, technical honesty and integrity to walk this path with us.
